Those of us who work diligently to provide top-quality car repair and maintenance services at Metric Motors of Loveland, Colorado feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the world. We get to savor four seasons, we have the mountains for our backyard, and we have a plethora of art-connected activities to enjoy, since Loveland is well known for its sculpture gardens and public art initiatives.
We’ve put together a partial list of great things to experience in our unique town whether you’re here by yourself, with your significant other, with your kids, or with a ragtag bunch of friends straight out of a Mad Max movie set! Seriously, we’ve tried to include something for everyone on our list. Read on!
Our Beautiful Sculpture Parks
As a city that loves its public art, Loveland boasts excellent parks for picnics, tossing a ball or disc, or simply walking for some inspiration and rejuvenation! What better place to walk in than a tree-filled park that’s also graced by dozens of masterfully crafted works of art? At the Benson Sculpture Garden, you can walk along a winding path that takes you by life-size sculptures ranging from the whimsical to the awe-inspiring. Over the years, Benson has been recognized through numerous awards, including Best Place To Take A Visitor and Most Romantic Spot!
Another awesome park is the Chapungu Sculpture Park at Centerra, which showcases an impressive, one-of-a-kind collection of Zimbabwe stone sculptures set in the midst of manicured paths and serene lakes. In addition, be sure to check out Sculpture In The Park in August, an art-centric event that draws people from all around the world to enjoy the region’s dynamic art culture!
Lake Strolls
We are fortunate to have several large, scenic lakes in and adjacent to our city, perfect for small watercraft and for leisurely strolls. To enjoy a lovely walk with mountain and lake views that rival anything you’d see in Switzerland, take a stroll around Lake Loveland. If you happen to be here on the 4th, watch the impressive fireworks show held over this iconic lake.
Fun Train Ride For The Kids
Directly north of Lake Loveland you’ll find an old-fashioned kiddie train similar to what you may have ridden when you were a kid! For a nostalgic trip back in time, and to treat your young children to a delightful ride on a miniature train replica, visit the Buckhorn Northern Railroad at North Lake Park. Operating since 1977, the train includes an authentic red caboose, and the tracks take happy travelers around the park and through a tunnel! At 75 cents per person per ride, it’s still one of the best deals around.
Great Hikes
If you want to get out into the great outdoors, Loveland is the right place! Hikes in the wilderness are mere minutes away; a popular hiking destination is the Devil’s Backbone Open Space, where you just might see red-tailed hawks and colorful wildflowers along with sweeping vistas. Before taking any hike, remember to prepare yourself and your fellow hikers. Make sure your body has adjusted to the elevation. Have enough water with you, and protect yourself against the intense sun by using sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Be aware that storms move through quickly in our region; keep an eye on the weather to avoid being caught in a surprise thunder- or hail-storm!
Try An Escape Room
If it is stormy outside, try one of our indoor attractions. In Loveland you’ll find several fun and challenging escape room adventures; we’ve listed the current ones here:
- Loveland Escape Rooms
- Clueology Rooms
- Time Escape Loveland
- Q: The Live Escape Experience
- Time Emporium Escape Rooms
Grab your group and spend an hour to an hour-and-a-half brainstorming and solving puzzles together for some adrenaline-boosting, team-building indoor entertainment! (By the way, you’ll find another impressive collection of themed escape rooms just to the north of Loveland in neighboring Fort Collins!)
The Rialto
A jewel gracing Loveland’s quaint downtown section since 1920, The Rialto Theater is a historic venue featuring big names and emerging local talent alike. Whether you catch a Sunday classic matinee of Breakfast At Tiffany’s, a Summer Concerts Series performance by Denver-based jazz band Joe Smith And The Spicy Pickles, or you want to sample the best in homegrown talent on Rialto Open Mic nights, know that you’ll be enjoying a show in a lovingly preserved historic building that’s been delighting patrons for nearly a century.
Sample The Local Brews
Northern Colorado has no shortage of microbreweries, in part thanks to local entrepreneurs (and beer lovers!), as well as thanks to the refreshing melted snow that rushes down the Rocky Mountains and into our local rivers. Why not sample one or more of our local microbrews while you’re here? New companies appear on the scene on a fairly consistent basis, so consider this just a partial (and growing) list of the great microbreweries you’ll find here in Loveland:
- Buckhorn Brewers
- Big Beaver Brewing Company
- Big Thompson Brewery
- Dratz Brewing Company
- Verboten Brewing and Barrel Project
- Loveland Aleworks
- Crow Hop Brewery and Taproom
- Grimm Brothers Brewhouse
Check Out The Local Museums
In and around Loveland, you’ll find unique museums and galleries you won’t see elsewhere. One of our favorites is the Loveland Museum, dedicated to presenting, preserving, and supporting the region’s historical heritage, including its rich arts and crafts culture. Check the site for operating hours; it’s a worthwhile stop whether you’re spending several days in the area or you’re just passing through.
