Don’t’ wait until winter to find out you need new tires. You don’t want to be stuck on 287 on your way to Wyoming, or on 35 on your way to Estes Park, because you’ve got a flat. Even worse, you don’t want to have a blowout on one of those roads in icy, snowy conditions. It really is a matter of safety for you and your family, so don’t put it off. You need a new tire, or tires, if:
- They deflate over time. If you can’t attribute deflation to weather or other changes, and you are having to add air more than once or twice a year, get your tires checked. You’ve probably got a slow leak, which could easily turn into a bigger leak at the worst possible time.
- You see bulges or gouges. If your tire is bulging, stop driving on it right now and go to the nearest tire store. You are in danger of a blow out. If you’ve got any gouges in your tire, its integrity has been weakened, and you should get it looked at.
- The tread is worn. The old penny test is really not reliable any more. If you’ve got worn tread, come see us and we’ll give you a professional opinion about when you should consider replacing your tires. If you can see through to the steel belts of your radial tires, they’re done for and need to be replaced now.
- Your car is vibrating for no apparent reason: If you can’t identify why your ride has recently become uncomfortable, your tires may be the cause. If your tires haven’t been balanced, and they’ve worn unevenly, you may be in need of new tires. If you catch it soon enough, you can rotate your tires to get more life out of them, so don’t wait too long.
- Your tires are old. If you’ve had the same tires on your car for 10 years, even if you haven’t put a lot of miles on them, get them looked out. Rubber is durable, but it doesn’t last forever.
